Have you ever bought fabric thinking it was lovely, then made something out of it and then decided that you didn't like the fabric?
Well that's what's happened here! I made this sobetto using a poly-cotton striped fabric in in blue and white fabric which looked lovely until it was made up, now feel I look like Andy Pandy or one of the Banana's in Pyjamas pair hahaha!!!
The other annoying thing about the fabric is the pleat on the pattern camouflaged itself amongst the stripes :/
Besides the fabric woe's, the sobetto pattern itself is a bit up and down but only on my part!
The upside is that I really like bust darts that are under the bust, much more flattering. But tiredness and pattern tracing do not mix. I traced off a size smaller than I should have, (only realising once I'd tried the top on) not that it's a problem when the top is actually on. It's getting the damn thing on and off (straight jacket comes to mind)!!
The good thing is that I did my research on this pattern. A lot of people were saying that the length on the sobetto is to short for them, so I added an extra 4cm. Result, perfect length. At least that's a good thing.
Most of you are aware of course that this pattern is freebie :) but for those of you who are not, and also to keep sharing the love. This is the Sobetto top, from Colette patterns. The pattern can be downloaded here and tips and how to's can be found here.

Fabric is cute maybe it's the pattern choice... You can add a contrasting collar or where as pjs
ReplyDeletePj's sound like a good idea! Hmm you might be right about the pattern choice, chances are if it was a blouse/shirt or peplum even it would look much better
